The theory test for car drivers has 2 parts which are the multiple choice questions and hazard perception test. To pass, you will need to be successful in both parts.
Before you can apply to take a practical driving test you will need to pass a theory test. After passing this, you have a period of 2 years to pass the practical car test or you will need to re-take the theory again.
multiple choice questions
This part contains 50 questions and lasts for 57 minutes. Various driving related questions and a case study are covered and displayed on a computer screen. The pass mark is currently 43 out of 50.
hazard perception
On this part you will watch 14 short video clips. They videos contain road situations with driving hazards. You should respond quickly and accordingly to any developing hazards that you see using a computer mouse. The earlier that you respond, the more points that you will score. The pass mark is currently 43 out 75 points.
